Introduction:

As a medical professor in charge of creating college assignments and answers for medical college students, I understand the importance of choosing a nursing specialty within the MSN program. In this assignment, students are required to reflect on their decision to pursue a specialty and describe any difficulties they have experienced in making their choice.

Answer:

Choosing a specialty within the MSN program is a critical decision that requires careful thought and consideration. As a prospective psychiatric nurse practitioner, I had a deep interest in mental health and wanted to help individuals struggling with mental illness. However, I faced several difficulties in making this choice, including the fear of not performing well in the program and the demanding nature of the specialization.

Despite these challenges, my passion for mental health and the desire to make a positive impact on the lives of individuals suffering from mental illness drove my decision to become a psychiatric nurse practitioner. Moreover, I chose the American Psychiatric Nurse Association as my professional organization because of its commitment to enhancing the mental health of individuals, promoting excellence in nursing practice, and advancing the nursing profession.

To become a member of the American Psychiatric Nurse Association, one needs to meet certain eligibility requirements such as holding a current, unrestricted nursing license and having at least a bachelor’s degree in nursing or related field. Membership benefits include access to educational resources, networking opportunities, and professional development programs. Joining this organization will allow me to gain new insights, knowledge, and skills to enhance my practice and contribute positively to the healthcare industry.
