Climate Choices: How should We meet the challenges of a warming

Length: Two full length pages. (should be about 600 words). Use 12 pt. Times New Roman font and 1-inch margins. The purpose of the paper is to prepare you for a deliberative dialogue that will take place in class on February 21st. So late papers are not accepted. Read the article “Climate Choices: How Should We Meet the Challenges of a Warming Planet?” by Archie, M., London, S. and Simmons, B. published by National Issues Forums (2016). The article is available on “course reserves” on blackboard; or you can download it for free from: https://www.nifi.org/en/catalog/product/climate-choices-how-should-we-meet-challenges-warming-planet-issue-guide Then write a short reaction paper discussing ONE of the three options presented in the article. The paper should have two parts: • A summary of the option that you choose to write about. • A discussion of the option that you chose, including the benefits, risks and potential trade-offs. Comment on whether this option that you are discussing could be strengthened by elements of the other two options. Paper format: Since the paper is so short, you do not have to follow regular rules for the structure of the paper. The paper does not need a title. The introduction and the conclusion should be just a couple of sentences each. Write two main paragraphs, discussing the two parts outlines above You have to use in-text citations only if you quote anything, and then you only need to write NIFI and the page number in parenthesis after the quote, as you are only using this ONE source. For the same reason you don’t need a reference list. In such a short paper, you should not insert many quotes, and no long quotes. Grading Rubric: The paper will be primarily graded on content and clarity of argument/presentation. However, pay attention to the writing style (including structure, syntax, grammar, punctuation, word choice, spelling, etc.) of your paper.
